The Much awaited and planned trip that my best friend Andrea and me planned finally materialized this Novmeber. Its been two long years since the two of us have been talking about going to Mangalore and spending a while there.
Mangalore has always been a beautiful heavenly paradise for me. Always loved going there when I was a little child, and staying there for at least a month. My grandparents live there and few of my relatives. Used to cry to come back to Mumbai. That place was Peaceful and so heavenly.Hwever, with time my liking towards heaven changed into hell and I detested going there for personal reasons. And it was almost four long years that I hadn’t been there, though my folks still continued paying visits there.
And then it was Andy who used to have a lot of fun there and I kept hearing of all of that and the way she described it was something even I was eagerly waiting to experience. Both of us used to go for our regular long walks and discuss, plan this trip and kept laughing after every conversation, cuz nothing was sure and felt we were just building castles in the air.
And then…I was done with the SEM V board exams this October and came there my vacation time, but for my Andy baby it was a month of study holiday and her Boards began real late. And by now…we kind of lost hopes that this trip would come true, but still kept talking of it. And finally. Her exams began when my college re-opened, and we decided we’ll take it ahead. And When she was studying hard for her papers, I was busy goggling trains, time schedules that would lead us to our destination. I know how much I disturbed her:L Finally we kept a date in mind and said come what may, we’ go. None, none believed us. Not my folks, nor hers. All were of the opinion that we’ve been telling them about going and never ever went. And thus we kept our fingers crossed and hoped that the ticket waiting list falls down and we get a seat and just get away. And till the end time, we dint discuss our plans with any one…Kept it to ourselves. What if it turned Kaput?
Finally came the much awaited day, but still our tickets were NOT confirmed, and we called each other the same Morning and asked ‘What should we do’? And then both decided, wteva, a seat dsnt matter much, wel crawl, sit on the door, and what not, but still go..Hehehe.And our people at home, just wondered what craze was this. And we were so very excited about the same thought.Haha..The NO CONFIRMED SEAT.
And we left like around 2-3 hours early than the train timing..HAha…and there began the Pocket full of Adventures..
We had to board our train from Kurla terminus. Two little ones..Hehehe...With two big bags..OMG...Just too much u c…So we waited at the ladies compt and there came a train..Damn..It was crowded, and was impossible to get in (haha…Sorry. but we dint even try getting in)…Guess why. Cause next to that there was an empty compartment that both of us shortys had noticed..lolz.hahaha….and no. it wasn’t the luggage…It was the Handicap compartment.Hahaha….And nothing could Stop us from entering that. Happily we entered and stood and noticed people around. None looked like physically challenged to us. And there was ample place around and we said lets go and sit. So much place you see…And we did that and smiled around till an old moron chucked us out at Andheri..:;sob sob: And we showed as if v weren’t aware that it was an Handicap compartment, and smiled and walked out.Damn..Hahahaa…And took the crowded ladies. Quick, wasn’t that? a we managed to enter.
Finally when we reached the terminus, we hoped, crossed our fingers that our seats were confirmed. And yeah..One was. Which meant we just had one seat and would have to adjust.Heheh…We were happy. And we sat there on that station. Reached two hours early. People around must have thought of us as sum run away Juvenilles...hehe.And finally came our Mastyaghanda and wHooo….we kept talking of all the past planned talks sitting in front of that train.Didnt want to enter so soon and so waited out. Got in after some time and taught we would bribe the TC and get a ticket later. Got our seats and watched around. And time after, the train left in motion and we just could believe the fact we were actually going to Mangalore and the Plan had worked. just kept talking of it. And sad to know people around us were all so snobbish.shhesh..Thought we would strike conversations with the ones around us and make it a nice fun filled journey. But Alas. Those around us were…Damn...We smiled at so many and none did that to us. Andy and me assumed that there was something wrong with us at that point. May be we looked like some clowns and those around dint want to smile at the clowns. And we two enjoyed our journey, not bored at all. Adjusted our asses on that one seat, and that salla TC dint give us a seat.Ya we dint show him anything that we had inside//..I meant CASh..Hahah
But all seemed so much fun, we dint crib about anything..
Reached Mangalore at early dawn, an hr earlier than the time supposed to reach. And then realized the ones we were trying to get to weren’t receiving our calls. Ya they were sleeping with the alarm scheduled to ring much later. And we got outta the train, and giggled around and smiled at few people. Darkness engulfed the place and a cool breeze swept thru my skin. Wow…Haha.we really dint knows what to do and jus walked to and fro.We dint know the way home. ways...we just decided to take a Rick and told him sum shit and he nodded and then kept calling home till some1 finally did attend our call.Ahhh…And the place was jus 10 minute distance from station and then we stopped and got ouuta the rick that Anna charged us 60 bucks and we were like WTF…And later we were made aware that the fare to that place from station was just 15bucks..Advernterous…Aint it?
Now we were finally in Mangalore, finally in the rite place and every1 around us was merry to have us.Ya at least they looked fine..Hahaha…
Enjoyed the week hanging out, visiting places, and travellling all by our selves like sum foreigners who weren’t aware of the Language and people looked at us like as if we were sum Anti-social elements .Took Andy to my side. I stay in typical rural side. Its just so beautiful.Open huge cottages, all around green pastures and animal grazing, Plantations, kacha roads, hilly and streams gushing….Just so heavenly. Showed her my side, my folks…Just stayed there for a day and two and cam back to the city.
I pity those Firangis who reside in our country. We managed to reach right destinations, talking in broken English for people to understand.Couldnt use our vocals there. Andy I learnt was a good planner and she planned the week well.
Just used to b back home to rest a while in the nite, the day spent in sight seeing..Haha…
Mind you, I’ve been to Mangalore loads time.
Finally the day arrived when we realized that our trip has come to an end, and it time to get back to Mumbai. But obvious, we both dint want to go back. And it was in the eveing, we realized that our tickets have been booked but not confirmed and more than that…hahah…They weren’t in our hand..Lolz.And that was Manglore.though developed still not like Mumbai. Thus began our hunt for a cyber cafĂ© and finally when we got one, and checked our tickets we were shocked when we realized that our waiting list was much much more than what it was when we came to manglore. Now it was certain that None of the tickets would be confirmed: pewww:: The cyber proved crap as we just couldn’t get our tickets printed and started hunting for some other place and finally got the thing done. a…..Looked at that ticket and jus giggled….Hahaha..Back to Bombay w/o a seat..Damn…and that was our last nit ether in manglore. And Andy’s cousins made sure we had the best of fun that nite. And we went roaming and zooming in their vehicles with music blasting in and reached sum haunted premises. The drive was soo much fun ,zig- zag roads, steep hills, cliffs that you feared….wow….I just loved it all.
Hmmm…Just like All good things have to come to and, was this Joy ride as well as our trip, and came the day where we sat packed our luggage and eve around 30-50 coconuts to carry back home.Souveneirs for Mumbai..hahaha.Yeah yeah for the two of us…hahaha..dont ask how we managed it, but we did…Sad faces, hopes to be back there, have the same fun or more fun, just me and Andy again…random thoughts hit my head…I had enjoyed each day there…Much more than what I would with my own folks…
Anyways…..The best part of this entire trip was our Journey back to Mumbai. No seats confirmed, we got into the Ladies general compartment..Hahaha..Me on a 3rd seat with my love on a 4th seat..Yaya..Shes the one who always compromises, adjusts..Damn me…And wow…..the Journey was fun. Trust me….we had a hell of a time. We just did not crib a single time, it was so uncomfortable, with stinky, stupid, uncouth, idiotic, uncivilized morons, travelers all around. Sitting below u, above you, on you, just everywhere. We just laughed and giggled and our comments just added to it. We witnessed dirty fights, arguments, heard slang spoken by ladies that we very heard even in Mumabi. There were firangis in our general compt and we seen them been the center of attraction, source of amusement for so many. And pathetic and disgusting eyes of men rolling all over those two cuties and dirty remarks being passed when they got out at few stations. Felt like just digging into their eye balls and handing it to them…The journey was not all that we expected it to be, it just turned to be whatever we did not. Its how you enjoy, how you see things….And we took this in good spirits..…And I will never regret comin back In that ladies overfilled general compartment.
And yeah…We reached Mumbai, back home 5 hours late than the expected arrival time…
Our bag full of adventures ended too, Smile, think, giggle when I think of that one week in manGloore…cheers
